Linacre Methodist Mission is a Grade II Listed building which has stood at the heart of the Linacre neighbourhood for over one hundred years and has long been the hub for both community and social functions within Litherland. The Albert Walker Hall to the first floor had suffered from many years of neglect and was in a very poor condition; some areas had even been closed off for fear of falling ceiling debris.
The project involved substantial repairs and restoration to the Albert Walker Hall to preserve its historic fabric and to enable a wider range of uses within the space. These works included external masonry repointing works, reroofing of the slate roof to the Albert Walker Hall, refurbishment of cast iron rainwater goods, repair and renewal of leaded glass windows and laylights, internal conservation works to the plaster capitals, replacement of decorative fine fibrous plaster panels to the ceiling, redecoration works to the cast iron columns as well as to the space generally, installation of underfloor heating and a new lighting scheme.
